Why we love this coffee
This delicious single origin Ethiopian coffee is a true find. Handpicked in Shakisso Farm (located in the Guji Zone in the Southern part of Oromia), this coffee has a delightful complexity with clarity of flavour. It’s a pleasure for the senses as it has a thick syrupy mouth feel, floral notes and a unique texture.
Shakisso Farm covers more than 640 hectares and was started by a local legend and Haile Gebre, father of seven girls. The farm began producing organic coffees in 2001, and is always looking for ways to improve the quality of its coffee.
Ethiopia is commonly accepted as the birthplace of coffee and coffee farming has ancient roots within the Oromo culture. The “coffee ceremony” ritual lasts up to 3 hours, and can take place up to 3 times a day. This is a social gathering between family, neighbours and friends. To be invited is a sign of respect and friendship! No doubt a great way to drink and celebrate coffee!
